At Brighton College, we are dedicated to the well-being of our Brightonites—both students and staff. This R U OK? Day, we focused on raising awareness about mental health, especially for our international students, many of whom are learning about this important Australian initiative for the first time.
What is R U OK? Day?
R U OK? Day is a day dedicated to encouraging people to check in with friends, family, and colleagues by simply asking, “Are you OK?” At Brighton College, we took the time to explain the significance of this day, making sure our international Brightonites understand the importance of open conversations about mental health and well-being.

Stress-Relief Activities for Our Brightonites‘
In addition to raising awareness, we wanted to provide our Brightonites with practical ways to unwind after their busy assessment week. To help them de-stress, we offered a variety of activities, including:
- Chocolate Treats: Our Brightonites were treated to delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries and chocolate lollies, offering a sweet escape from the stresses of student life.
Our beautiful students enjoy their chocolate lollies at Sydney Campus
Brightonites at Brisbane also enjoy their treats!
- Hand Massages: Our talented Community Services students provided relaxing hand massages to help ease tension and promote well-being.
- Salsa Dancing: We also organized a fun and energizing salsa dancing session, allowing students to loosen up, have fun, and relieve stress in a lively and engaging way.
- Wishing Box: We also introduced a “Wishing Box,” where students could write down their thoughts, wishes, or worries—creating a reflective space to express their feelings.
Highlighting the Melbourne Campus’ Charity Bake Sale Success
Our Melbourne Campus took the R U OK? Day initiative a step further by hosting a Charity Bake Sale, and we are thrilled to announce that we raised $200, which will be donated to the R U OK? organization. Thank you to all the Brightonites who contributed, participated, and made this event such a success. Your incredible support and generosity have made a significant impact, and we are deeply grateful.
At Brighton College, we recognize that supporting mental health goes beyond just talking—it’s about creating opportunities for our Brightonites to relax, recharge, and connect with each other. Through our R U OK? Day activities, we hope to have fostered a sense of community and care for all those who are studying and working here.
We are proud of our Brightonites for coming together to support one another, and we will continue to promote well-being throughout the year!
